Article Abstract:
MetroNet Communications Corp. is experiencing a lack of confidence from investors due to the current economic situation, but the company and some analysts are saying that the stock is worth the risk in the long term. MetroNet is a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) in the newly-deregulated local telephone service market in Canada and offers bundled services that include local, long-distance, high-speed data and Internet service. Loewen predicts that the CLEC will reap revenue of C$80 million in 1998, C$181 in 1999 and C$350 million in 2001.
