Liberal Party leader McKenna was reinstated as premier of New Brunswick after winning the election on Sep 11, 1995. Polls showed that Liberals were in the lead by a vast margin. McKenna and his opponents, Bernard Valcourt and Elizabeth Weir, appeared on a televised debate before the election.

Moonshine revival: history and hard times mean more illegal booze

Illegal liquor production has always occurred in Nova Scotia and other rural areas of Atlantic Canada, but the recent economic downturn may be responsible for the revival of private stills. Most 'moonshiners' make their alcohol for private consumption, but a few sell their bottles for profit.
