Maoism, anti-fascism, and old-style communism are seeing a resurgence in the mountains of western Nepal. The Maoist movement started up in 1996 when Nepal's Communist Party went underground, and called for a proletarian people's republic.

Article Abstract:
The impact of the massacre of Nepal's royal family in June 2001 is discussed. The monarchy has been weakened and the country is becoming chaotic giving the Maoist rebels a chance to take over.
