Movement's roots
Article Abstract:
The euthanasia movement in several countries has roots in the 19th century. In 1906, a bill was introduced in Ohio seeking to legalize euthanasia. The Voluntary Euthanasia Society was formed in Great Britain in 1935, which sponsored a bill on euthanasia the next year. Both bills were rejected. In Germany in 1920, Karl Binding and Alfred Hoche wrote 'The Permission to Destroy Life Unworthy of Life,' which held that patients who seek to end their suffering should be able to get medical help. The Nazis exploited this theory to propagate the killing of criminals, the handicapped, homosexuals, the mentally insane and the extermination of Jews.

Roots of the controversy

Privatization is a relatively new concept since government involvement in the industry is relatively new too. Till the 20th century, government was only involved in a few economic activities. At the turn of the century, however, government involvement increased.
