Rosemary Vodrey, Manitoba's minister of justice since Sep 1993, is a staunch advocate of anti-crime legislation. Vodrey is proud that Manitoba has become the first province in Canada to enact community notification regulations, under which the names and addresses of ex-sex offenders are to be made public.

Special interest groups will not have a great influence on Canada's fall 1993 elections because Canadian voters are preoccupied with economic concerns. Many of the special interest groups receive some government funding and some people resent this.
