Australian filmmakers and actors contributed to several memorable films in 1997. Cate Blanchett is the Australian star in Australian director Gill Armstrong's version of 'Oscar and Lucinda,' based on Australian novelist Peter Carey's book. Other films many people will enjoy include 'In and Out,' starring Kevin Kline, 'Her Majesty Mrs. Brown,' starring Judi Dench and Billy Connolly, and 'The Jackal' with Richard Gere and Bruce Willis.
