Ten large pornographic film companies operate in Chatsworth and Van Nuys, two suburbs of San Fernando Valley, the center of California's pornographic movie industry. In 1998 the industry produced 8,900 XXX-rated movies, and 665 mil videos were rented from 25,000 stores in the US alone. The industry has a political lobbyist, a former dominatrix, working in Sacramento, California.
