Article Abstract:
Prices for cars and pickups have risen about 12.5% between Jan-Mar 1997 with 39.2 weeks, not 28 weeks needed for a consumer to pay for a car. Factors which fueled the surge include extra expense to makers for emission controls and air bags, and the inclusion of more features such as antilock brakes.
