Rights issue

Article Abstract:

The Australian Football League (AFL) is entering negotiations to sell the rights to broadcast their games after 2001, when their exclusive contract with Seven Network ends. Seven Network pays about $50 mil a year, while American football's revenue is $3.5 bil. The AFL has used Nine Network to compete with Seven Network in past contract negotiations, but Nine Network will not accept that role again.

Scientists are using supercomputers to model the behavior of fire to help predict and fight bush fires. The Country Fire Authority is able to understand fire behavior and identify the 200 most exposed towns in the country. They conduct public education programs in areas that need it most. Project Vesta is a 5-year study of the behavior of high-intensity bushfires in eucalypt forests.

Article Abstract:

Michael Klim won 4 gold medals at the 1998 world Swimming Championships and is expected to do well at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. His father was a trade agent, so his family moved numerous times when he was a child. Michael was a fat boy, but he got in shape through swimming.
