Rose, in New Book, Admits Betting on His Team
Article Abstract:
Pete Rose has decided to admit that he bet on his team, the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, while he was manager in the 1980s. Coinciding with the publication of his autobiography, "My Prison Without Bars" in which he admits both his violation of major league rules and his denial of gambling, Rose is trying to pacify Commissioner Bud Selig so that Selig will reinstate him and make him eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame. Selig is concerned about Rose's continuing lack of contrition and his integrity if he were to return to professional baseball.
