Small companies, big risks
Article Abstract:
The Australian High Court has decided Jeffries Industries, a sand blasting company, broke the law in 1995 by creating an artificial price for its shares. Observers think the decision widened the definition of market manipulation, and made formerly legal conduct against the law. Former Jeffries chairman James O'Halloran arranged with a broker to sell his shares at a low price.

Mud sticks in cyberspace
Article Abstract:
This article examines a ruling in a defamation suit in Australia that strips plaintiffs of any power to stop defamatory statements and images from being circulated on the internet. The article concludes that the ruling will make it all but impossible for the victims of defamation via the internet to win injunctions to prevent the further dissemination of libelous web sites.
