Few Australian companies were present at the world's largest industrial trade fair in Hannover, Germany, in Apr 1997. The Australian governmental organization Austrade was also absent. Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) presented an exhibit that attracted attention. CSIRO's deputy chief executive Bob Frater lamented Australia's lack of support.

Article Abstract:
Australia's new Collins class submarines have cost the taxpayers more than $5 bil, but the Defense Department has to change the shape of the hull to get them into working condition. Four of the six have already been launched, but because of these problems a miniature version is being built in the US and will be tested in a water tank in 1999.

Medieval theme parks are proving popular for corporate team building exercises in England. Jousting and a meticulously recreated medieval exhibit in Warwick castle are drawing crowds. There seems to be a genuine fascination with history along with an interest in the drama of the experience.
