The Danger of Space Junk
Article Abstract:
Collisions between objects orbiting Earth could be the destiny of all of the artificial satellites launched. Collisions can be violent and fragments from the collisions will cause accidents. If a space station were to be hit, fatal results would be likely. The amount of debris left by a typical space launch is significant. A radar system designed to detect missiles is now being used for tracking orbital debris. Research on how to deal with problems is ongoing.

The Danger of Space Junk: In a place without landfills, what goes uphad better come down
Article Abstract:
The debris in space, left behind after countless missions by many countries, pose a potentially fatal threat to human occupants of a space vehicle. Space debris hitting an orbiting space ship could destroy the vehicle. One possible solution is to make certain that once a piece of equipment has outlived its usefulness in space, its orbit deteriorates and the object fall to Earth.
