The man behind the subpoenas
Article Abstract:
Whitewater Independent Counsel Kenneth Star has many doubts about the constitutionality of the independent counsel law and his ability to bring down President Clinton, but he knows he has to prove his investigation to refute the charges of conspiracy brought against him. Starr may not directly bring the charges of sex and lies against the president, instead he may hand all the evidence to Congress and let it decide what to do next.

Between the lines
Article Abstract:
Writer Peter Carey lived in New York City in 1997 to help turn his books into films, but prefers Australia. Carey feels US television can be soothing and the old comedies are often amusing, but thinks New York is not as safe an environment for children as Australia is. Marcel Proust, Henry James, Graham Greene and Jane Austen have influenced Carey's work. He is generally pleased with the way filmmakers have treated his writing.
