U.S.-Asia flights up as recovery takes off
Article Abstract:
Airlines on either side of the Pacific Ocean are increasing their US-Asia flight offerings as Asia rebounds from a disastrous financial crisis in mid-1997. The airlines' early recovery in the region is built on the improving financial health of Asian businesses that have been helped in part by Japan's deregulation of financial services, higher US demand for consumer electronics and the strength of the US auo industry. USA Today newspaper predicts that US-Asia flights in 1st qtr 2000 will increase by 3.6% over 1st qtr 1999 based on an analysis of airline schedules and data from Back Information Services.

Promise of clear vision brings misery to some
Article Abstract:
Laser eye surgery, also called Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), can have side effects that are worse than the original problem. LASIK, which is claimed in advertisement as a quick, virtually risk-free procedure, can cause life-altering complications that sometimes cannot be fixed. According to industry analysts and reports from the Food and Drug Administration, up to 5% of patients experience some sort of complication. Problems include double or triple vision, light distortions and very dry eyes.
