U.S. auto sales predicted to top record
Article Abstract:
US vehicle sales in 1999 are expected to exceed the record 16 million units set in 1986. Among those who forecasted the record sales were DaimlerChrysler AG chief economist Van Bussman and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce chief economist Joshua Mendelsohn. Van Bussman predicted total US vehicle sales of 16.7 million and between 15.5 and 16 million next year. Mendelsohn estimates that US sales this year will amount to 16.5 million and 15.5 million next year.

Big Three autos outdo Europeans in key study
Article Abstract:
A survey of reliability was conducted and it was found that new vehicles from Detroit-based automakers were better than those from European companies. The vehicles made by the Chrysler group, Ford Motor Co. and Ford Motor Co were ahead of the European automakers such as BMW AG, Volkswagen AG and others in the survey.
