Umming and ARMing on the referendum
Article Abstract:
This article presents the results of a poll taken in anticipation of the November 1999 referendum in which Australians will decide whether their country should become a republic with its own head of state. The poll, taken in August and September 1999, found that 46.5% will vote yes for a republic, 41% will vote no, and 12.5% remain undecided. Relevant points include the uphill battle faced by the Australian Republican Movement and the importance of the undecided vote.
