Uniforet extends shutdown, lays off workers
Article Abstract:
Uniforet Inc (Montreal, Quebec) is expecting production at its Port Cartier, Quebec, paper pulp mill to be reduced by 25,800 tonnes, or 12.9% for the whole of 2001. The mill was suspended 2/16/01 and will not start up again before 4/2/01. The slowdown affects around 100 jobs, according to the company. The company is also laying off one shift at its Port Cartier sawmill for an indefinite period.
