The basic training offered to new Marine Corps recruits at the Parris Island facility provides them with self-confidence and a positive way to lead their lives. The recruits are often teenagers who are undereducated and have had problems, but the absolute standards in training help improve them.

Article Abstract:
Jack Dunn created the Crossroads education program for disadvantaged youths in North Carolina in an effort to help them break the cycle of welfare dependency. Aspects of the program, which aids 300 children, are described.
