Why we remember
Article Abstract:
The 90th anniversary of Anzac Day commemorates the death of young Australian and New Zealand soldiers, who fought against the Turks in the failed campaign at Gallipoli during World War I. Australian and New Zealand soldiers went to Gallipoli in 1915 as part of a misconceived expedition of the British Empire, but when they landed on the beach, they would suffer for months and eventually leave Gallipoli to the Turks.
