Would decriminalizing drugs reduce crime and violence?
Article Abstract:
The debate over the legalization of drugs has heated up as the US' drug enforcement efforts appear to be having no lasting effect on drug use. Proponents of legalization see the underground economy surrounding drugs as the main source of drug-related crime and believe that legalization will make it easier for people to receive treatment for addiction. Opponents of legalization claim that pro-legalization forces are promoting a lifestyle that would lead to a national disaster. They think that increasing funding of drug enforcement agencies and educating people at home, in school and in church is a better approach to drug control.

Would tighter gun control reduce school violence?
Article Abstract:
The school shootings in 1997 and 1998 are examples of how easily American children can get access to firearms. To prevent such tragedies, Congress needs to implement policies that will keep guns away from children who are unsupervised. However, others argue that most guns in the US are used for protection from criminals. Americans, not Congress, can prevent youth violence by keeping guns away from children in a safe place.
