Advances in vascular neuroeffector mechanisms
Article Abstract:
A symposium was held during the 1998 International Congress of Pharmacology in Porto, Portugal, emphasizing on developments in the field of vascular function. Composed of five sessions, the meeting specifically focused on vascular neuroeffector mechanisms. The subjects discussed included mechanisms involved in neurotransmission at the vascular level, intrinsic pathways leading to vascular smooth muscle contraction and relaxation, and pre- and post-junctional adrenoreceptors.

Chromaffin cell mechanisms: understanding catecholamine storage and release
Article Abstract:
Researchers at a conference discussed the synthesis and release of catecholamines by chromaffin cells. Topics included the biosynthesis of transmitters, packaging of the granule core, the triggering of exocytosis, and the actions of the contents on target cells.
