Do investors price social responsibility?
Article Abstract:
Corporate social responsibility has little impact on financial performance as is evidenced from a study of companies rated by the Council on Economic Priorities, and investors' response. Firms with better ratings attract more investors and enjoy better financial returns than others. If this is the case, it may make sense for corporations to consider the interests of more than just the shareholders in making corporate governance decisions. Such a move would benefit society without hurting investor returns.

Friedman's theory of corporate social responsibility
Article Abstract:
Milton Friedman's two essays, 'Capitalism and Freedom' and 'Social Responsibility of Business,' reveal the incoherence between the two theories on social responsibility in business. The first theory stresses on open and fair business practices, while the second theory recommends a strict adherence to social norms and a consideration of shareholders' wishes in business centers.
