The maturing of the Japanese economy: corporate social responsibility implications
Article Abstract:
Corporate social responsibility in Japan is analyzed in terms of the paradigm of the moral unity of business wherein business is expected to operate under similar set of moral standards operative in other societal institutions. A micro moral unity paradigm is posited for Japan in which business activity is related to society's values of morality within a carefully defined community of interests. The emergence of a possible foundation for a new paradigm that addresses the negative consequences of the micro moral unity paradigm is discussed.

The ontological and moral status of organizations
Article Abstract:
A study on the identities of social entities suggests the answer to the question of entities be determined by the theory in social science that has the most explanatory power. It is argued that since we accept moral individualism as the privilege of the individual to have rights and duties, the moral status of organizations depends on their ontological status and hence they should not be accorded citizenship in the moral realm.
