Liberal toleration in Rawl's Law of Peoples
Article Abstract:
John Rawls' 'The Law of Peoples,' an article published in the book 'On Human Rights,' provides that liberal toleration should be applied to peaceful states, also known as 'well-ordered hierarchical societies.' This aspect of political liberalism clashes with other liberal concepts if applied in a global perspective. Political liberalism must seek a balance between support for individual liberal aspirations and tolerance for nonliberal, yet reasonable, views.

The autonomy defense of free speech
Article Abstract:
Liberal theorists such as David Strauss, Thomas Scanlon, Charles Fried and Ronald Deworkin have utilized the concept of autonomy to defend the right to free speech. The autonomy defense has been used extensively in legal battles involving hate speeches. An analysis of the concept of autonomy would reveal the absence of barriers that prevents an individual from making hate speeches.

Can liberals support a ban on violent pornography?
Article Abstract:
Some contend that violent pornography should not be banned because doing so would infringe on the liberal theory of free expression. Liberals should support such a ban because the liberal concept of free speech neither forbids nor requires a prohibition on violent pornography because it is highly debatable whether the benefits of such a ban will outweigh its costs.
