A moment of clarity? The American media and Hurricane Katrina
Article Abstract:
As stories and photos from Hurricane Katrina began to accumulate in the first week after, the American media decided that race and class could become the focal points of stories. In a moment of clarity, the media saw the stark truth of devastation beneath the narratives and myths that make daily news coverage, and incorrect stories were written due to lack of communication.
