Bank nationalization, financial savings, and economic development - a case study of India
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the Indian economy's financial savings, government expenditures, investments and growth performance for the past three and a half decades reveal the effects of bank nationalization. Bank branch expansion under the bank nationalization program made financial savings rise although credit allocation program negatively affected deposit mobilization and capital accumulation. The findings reiterate results of prior studies made wherein interest rates increase due to financial savings and the rise in deposits which cause higher investment levels.
