Re-positioning Africa: the role of African-American leaders in changing media treatment of Africa
Article Abstract:
A two-pronged approach which involves changing the attitudes and actions of African-American politicians is proposed to alter media's treatment of Africa and contribute toward the continent's repositioning in world affairs. It is believed that increased public attention to the continent by US political leaders will lead to more and better media coverage of Africa. If African issues are accorded more weight in US policy considerations, media would cease looking at them as minor concerns.

Western influences and activities in Africa
Article Abstract:
Africa will continue to be influenced by the West both because of its Colonial past and its appreciation of the US democratic model. African countries should assess this influence and use it for furthering peace, economic strength and global recognition. It is important to use an African-centered approach in cultural and linguistic matters. Western powers can help Africa attain democratic ideals by assisting in constitution formation.
