The use of French in the workplace
Article Abstract:
Business French courses need to place more stress on oral skills, the linguistic skill hardest to teach and to learn, but the one most suited to real-life needs. Students also need preparation to deal with the culture of French business. Such preparation would perhaps best be handled in a general French culture course including a unit on the business world. French multinational corporations differ from US ones in their interest in hires with foreign-language skills, and students need to know that French-language skills can help them find employment.

Do prequestioning techniques facilitate comprehension of French video?
Article Abstract:
Comprehension of a French language video was enhanced by interrogative advance organizers more than by declarative advance organizers, according to a study involving 26 students. Advance organizers are prelistening activities. In a previous study, no difference between the interrogative and declarative conditions had been observed. Cognitive processing theory sheds light on the results.
