When is an ocean not an ocean? Geographies of the Atlantic World
Article Abstract:
Geography is the product of dialogues, contests, and accommodations in both its physical and cultural forms and a contact between substances as disparate as eternal stone and the primordial sea. A study on how the acts of placemaking related to water and sea, informed the colonization of the American South in one small corner of the Atlantic World is illustrated.
