The ski resort of Mont Tremblant, located 120km from Montreal, Canada, was created in 1938. It has received extensive investment from Intrawest, which also owns the Whistler resort, and is now regarded as the best resort on north America's eastern seaboard. Its Nansen green run is extremely attractive, and its two ski faces are heavily wooded. Its nightlife is rather quiet and dignified, and it is dominated by the English language, rather than French.

Canadian ski resort operator Intrawest has announced plans to construct the 'Arc 1950 Le Village' development on a site in Les Arcs, France. This will be undertaken in collaboration with France's Compagnie des Alpes. There will be 800 residential units with 3,500 beds, along with facilities including swimming pools and restaurants.

Hooray, no more French tests

The French authorities have agreed that British ski instructors who hold the Basi Grade One qualification no longer have to take a further test to be permitted to teach in France. Many British ski schools are being established in the French Alps, creating great demand for instructors.
