Gift of guns puts Olympics boss in firing line over how US won games

Article Abstract:

It has been revealed that International Olympic Committee (IOC) Pres Juan Antonio Samaranch received an inscribed pistol and a rifle worth a total of around $2,000 from Salt Lake City, UT, just before that city became successful in its bid to stage the 2002 Winter Olympics. This revelation follows a number of other incidents in which IOC members are alleged to have been guilty of corruption. A number of investigations are now taking place, but the reputation of the Olympic movement as a whole has been badly damaged.

White sand and holy places

Article Abstract:

It can be extremely interesting to travel on the East Coast Main Line in Northumbria, England, a county which boasts a clean, sandy coastline and an empty, unspoiled interior. Travellers may wish to visit the village of Alnmouth, England, where cottages surround the harbour and many small fishing boats can be seen. It is also worth visiting Berwick, England, where the landscape is very gentle, despite the often extreme weather conditions.
