Reuters to axe 1,100 jobs after profits dive 21%

Article Abstract:

Financial news and information provider Reuters suffered a 21% drop in pre-tax profits to 357 million pounds sterling in the six months to the end of Jun 2001. Sales were up 14% at 1.9 billion pounds sterling. The company is to cut 1,100 jobs, equivalent to around 7% of its workforce.

Giving Bluetooth a little extra bite

Cambridge Silicon Radio has ambitious plans for the Bluetooth chips, known as BlueCore, that it produces. It believes that its lead over its rivals is attributable to its use of Complementary Metal-Oxide-Silicon technology to produce a complete Bluetooth solution on a single chip.

Microsoft sets up $5bn gadget factory
