Viva Mexico
Article Abstract:
The Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, England, is currently staging an exhibition entitled 'Mexican Prints.' This covers more than 100 prints, most of which have propagandist, populist or revolutionary themes. Mexican art from the 1920s to the 1950s is generally more expressive than most other modern art of the period, but some works are rather too lurid. People and landscapes tend to be very homely, being made up of friendly, rounded forms. The exhibition lacks contextual information.

After you, master, after you
Article Abstract:
Franz Auerbach's paintings 'after' other paintings are currently being exhibited at the National Gallery, London, UK. These include versions of works by Titian, Rembrandt and Rubens. They establish unusual connections between the past and the present, and is some cases the links can be very remote. The exhibition also includes some extremely interesting drawings.

The case of the missing master

The National Gallery in London, England, is staging an exhibition entitled 'Pisanello: Painter to the Renaissance Court.' There are very few examples of the work of Pisanello, who lived around 1390 to 1455, and the exhibition focuses on 'The Vision of St Eustace' and 'St George and St Anthony Abbot,' both of which are already in the National Gallery.
