Why Australia needs the monarchy

Article Abstract:

Many Australians will vote against the republican model being put to them in the referendum due to take place on Nov 6, 1999, because it does not offer them the opportunity to elect a President directly. Instead, the President would be elected by a two-thirds majority of the Federal Parliament. This approach makes many Australians feel that they are being patronized and judged as unable to make their own decision about who should be President. It seems that neither republicans nor monarchists feel able to really trust the Australian people.

Ping pong: a love story

Article Abstract:

It is common in the UK for table tennis not to be taken seriously as a sport. Many people refer to it dismissively as 'ping pong,' and do not feel that it requires any real skill. Table tennis players seem to be rather retiring, and this means that the sport does not really attract any publicity. However, some table tennis players find that the way in which they play on a particular day reflects their emotions at that time.
