Interprofessional Perspectives on Teamwork in Health Care: A Case Study
Article Abstract:
Health care professionals at a large teaching hospital were surveyed to determine their definitions of a team and how they viewed the operations and structure of interdisciplinary teams. Physicians viewed teamwork as a nursing competition which attempts to undermine traditional physician authority. Nurses viewed teamwork as necessary for good patient care, but imposed by outside accrediting organizations, and required for legal documentation and audits. Opinions on decision making and leadership within the team were again based on the nurse-physician conflicts and disparity of goals. These conflicts on teamwork are evident in both a review of the literature on teamwork and in the actual practice of it in clinical settings.

Why the Chinese are flocking to Hamburg
Article Abstract:
China United Trading Corp uses Hamburg as its trading port because of quality import facilities for Chinese products, and it has been an important influence in convincing other Chinese businesses to come to Hamburg. Historical roots, a base for expanding Chinese businesses, and a falling Chinese trade deficit makes Hamburg an attractive choice for China to begin attempting to reach new markets in Europe. Hamburg has 594 local companies which work with China, and 506 merchants export to and import from China. Goods passing through Hamburg's port also account for nearly 80% of the goods West Germany trades with China, worth about 4.5 billion European currency units in 1986.
