Effects of aging on the opioid modulation of feeding in humans

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that a reduction in opioid activity is not a substantial contributor to anorexia associated with aging. Both young people and elderly adults, in general, were found to be equally sensitive to naloxone's appetite suppression effects, suggesting that age-related anorexia has a different cause.
