The appropriateness of drug use in an older nondemented and demented population

Article Abstract:

This article examines patterns of drug use in healthy older people and those with dementia. Major depression in a population of demented and nondemented older people: prevalence and correlates

Article Abstract:

Depression appears to be more common in people with dementia. Researchers gave psychiatric exams to 1,101 older people in Stockholm, Sweden. Dementia was diagnosed in 27.8% of the group. Of these, 11.8% were also diagnosed with depression, compared to only 3.9% of the non-demented people. Depression was associated with increased disability in the non-demented as well as the demented.
