Assistance with personal care activities among the old-old in Israel: a national epidemiological study

Article Abstract:

Research on 1,820 Jewish Israelis ages 75 to 94 indicates that a significant amount of caregiving for the extreme elderly in Israel is provided by their families, even though a full range of institutional and state care services are available. Further studies are encouraged to investigate the reasons behind this underutilization.

A nursing home in Arab-Israeli Society: targeting utilization in a changing social and economic environment

Article Abstract:

A study of data from Dabouriya Home for Aged provides comparison between the dependence of aged Arab-Israelis and Jewish populations on institutionalized care. It is observed that as of now aged Arab-Israelis were mainly cared for their families. However as the modernization takes over, traditional caregiving will be reduced and have to be compensated with alternative means.
