"Warm-up" phenomenon detected by electrocardiographic ambulatory monitoring in adult and older patients

Article Abstract:

A warm-up phenomenon seen in patients with coronary heart disease is discussed. The phenomenon is detected by electrocardiographic ambulatory monitoring in adult/older patients. A study to assess whether severity of myocardial ischemia might be reduced by two walking-induced ischemic episodes in this group has been carried out. It was found that myocardial ischemia is attenuated and ischemic threshold is increased between two brief ischemic episodes in adult patients, but not in older patients.

Aging does not affect beta-agonist responsiveness after methacholine-induced bronchoconstriction

Article Abstract:

The response to an inhaled beta-agonist alone or in combination with an anticholinergic agent after methacholine-induced bronchoconstriction in four age groups is studied through a retrospective analysis. The results indicate similarities between the responsiveness to beta-agonist alone with the responsiveness to the combination of beta-agonist and anticholinergic agent in all age groups.

Clinical global impression of change in physical frailty: development of a measure based on clinical judgment

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to expand the ability to assess physical frailty by developing a clinical global impression of change in physical frailty (CGIC-PF) instrument. The result indicated that CGIC-PF had strong face validity, reliability, and feasibility for use in clinical research and it could be useful as one criterion of change and as an anchor for change in other measures.
