Challenging the human crisis: "the Trilemma."(Special Issue: Japan Confronts the 21st Century)
Article Abstract:
Worldwide population growth has created an impending 21st century human crisis called the Trilemma. The Trilemma is defined as the need to choose between economic growth, resources such as energy and food, and environmental protection. The three aspects of the Trilemma are interrelated and cannot be optimized independently. Energy development strategies for the 21st century are discussed to provide solutions for the Trilemma from an energy perspective.

A rebuttal to "Nuclear future - a case of method bias?" (response to article by Sven Hunhammar in this article, p.213)
Article Abstract:
A forecast concerning the rise of nuclear power and natural energy accurately represents historical reality. The forecast features a holistic scenario supported by nuclear and natural energy growth estimates. The forecast utilized different forecasting techniques for different technologies to avoid bias and because there is no precise and theoretically acceptable method for predicting the future relationship between energy costs and supply.

Nuclear future - a case of method bias?
Article Abstract:
Identifying future alternatives without considering forecast methods will result in inaccurate predictions. Such was the case in a nuclear future characterized by scarce renewable energy resources, low oil reserves and high energy demand. Different forecasting methods, which were not validated, were used for different nuclear technologies resulting in the failure to consider solar energy and a forecast that is not likely to occur.
