New, technology-based firms in small open economies - an analysis based on the Finnish experience
Article Abstract:
An analysis of the impact of new technology-based firms (NTBFs) in a small, open economy reveals that their impact is more systemic than organic. Data from Finland businesses is used and results also show that NTBFs have a tendency to fall into a resource trap and that this may be due to their being less growth oriented than their counterparts in economies where the domestic market is comparatively larger.
