Sexually transmitted diseases in the United States
Article Abstract:
Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are among the top ten most frequently reported diseases in the US. The economic impact of STDs is estimated at $10 billion and increases to $17 billion when HIV/AIDS are included. However, despite these economic and health consequences, public awareness and knowledge of STDs are still dangerously low. To reduce the costly complications of STDs, communities and individuals need critical prevention and control services which include screening for possible infections, prompt treatment and proper counseling and education regarding STD-prevention.

Bioregionalism: a pragmatic European perspective
Article Abstract:
A real bioregion has not been established in Europe because of several political, social and economic factors. The Alpine region is the only potential bioregion in Europe that has been considered because of its biophysical features, carrying capacity and resource inventory. However, a true bioregionalism could not be implemented in the region because it cuts across five nation states with different cultures, economic structures and social capacities and has some passes that are densely used as transport routes.

The new member states of the European Union: Austria, Finland and Sweden
Article Abstract:
Austria, Finland and Sweden have been accepted as members of EU. Despite the countries' different urban features and the fear of most locals for the loss of the local cultual identity, the national governments of the three countries believe that their membership with the EU will improve the quality of production and standard of life of their respective countries. In addition, they believe that the future of urban development depends on their participation in the region's open trade.
