The sexual citizen
Article Abstract:
The sexual citizen reflects a new emphasis on sexual subjectivity, one that transcends the boundaries between public and private spheres that have long been established in Western culture. The concept of citizenship thus becomes less restrictive, and this development is associated with less hierarchical relationships, newly emerging subjectivities, and new narratives of personal life. The quality of ordinary life is becoming more of a political concern.

Towards a citizens' welfare state: the 3 + 2 'R's of welfare reform
Article Abstract:
The author argues that concepts of difference and recognition are not a part of mainstream public debate concerning welfare reform in the UK, and instead, discourse focuses on active reform versus passive social dependency. The author proposes that the Labour government should manage welfare reform by way of redistribution, risk protection, recognition, rights, and responsibilities.
