Who will care for the caretaker's daughter? Toward a sociology of happiness in the era of reflexive modernity
Article Abstract:
In American society at the end of the twentieth century, definitions of intimacy are closely linked to the language of therapy and psychology, instead of sociology. Language that comes out of therapy has made the emotional and verbal style of the new middle class natural and legitimate. This language of therapy has made sense of changes of the workplace and shaped a new language of selfhood. Psychologists went into the workplace and the family to codify intimacy with categories used kind of corporate selfhood. Both at work and in the family the self has been redefined, not by sociologists, but by psychologists.

Reflexive modernization and beyond: knowledge and value in the politics of environment and technology
Article Abstract:
Environmental policy-making has been hampered by the effects of technology on the environment. The article argues that effective policy-making can be better reached with full public participation. The policies drawn up by Robert Dahl, Silvio Funtowicz and Jerry Ravetz are included to serve as models to achieve better environmental policy-making strategies.
