From international migration to transnational diaspora
Article Abstract:
'Diaspora' from the Oxford University Press and 'Public Culture' from University of Chicago are periodicals which reflect the changing context of emigration studies. Transnationalism challenges the old, rigid, territorial nationalism in favor of shifting and claimed boundaries. Transnationalism also accounts for the complexity of migrant networks and societies rather than just using the language of immigration and assimilation. The necessity for sociologists to go through these journals is discussed.

Harvest trails in Australia: Patterns of seasonal migration in the fruit and vegetable industry
Article Abstract:
The composition of seasonal workforce is established, their motives for undertaking seasonal work is identified, and their harvest trails are discovered by drawing on fieldwork in three case study regions of Queensland. It is argued that the dynamics of seasonal labor mobility is determined by consumption motives, and it also identifies an emerging organizational apparatus that shapes and controls the industry.
