The heritage of sociology, the promise of social science: presidential address, XIVth World Congress of Sociology, Montreal, 26 July 1998

Article Abstract:

Sociology should expand its current epistemological methodology to remain a viable discipline. Rather than view their profession as a closed field, sociologists should consider it a culture instead, one which experiences influences from other schools of thought. This richer interpretation of sociological study will enhance the accumulation and analysis of human knowledge.
