The challenge of responsibility for sociology
Article Abstract:
This article examines the concept of responsibility and its application to a sociological inquiry into the organization of contemporary society. The author outlines a three-fold typology of responsibility, consisting of individual, post-traditional, and co-responsibility, which enables sociologists to better understand contemporary forms of action.

The extraprofessional life: leisure, retirement and unemployment
Article Abstract:
The argument that the values of professional work done by the upper middle class pervade their extraprofessional life as well is made. These values apply to leisure and retirement rather than to unemployment. Compared to most other workers, these people spend much less time in leisure activities.
