Mitsubishi and GATX Logistics make crossdocking work
Article Abstract:
Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America has solved various problems with GATX Logistics' design and development of a crossdocking system. GATX designed and developed the crossdocking operation to help solve Mitsubishi's problems concerning the assembly line component flow and the maximization of space in the assembly facility. Other problems included the need to coordinate the entire supply chain process and the creation of a safer work environment. GATX's crossdocking operations has enabled Mitsubishi to address these problems and has also provided various value-added services such as sorting, pre-assembly and sequencing of parts.
