Review of entrapments in bulk agricultural materials at commercial grain facilities
Article Abstract:
There has been a total of 71 cases of workers' entrapment and suffocation in bulk farm products at commercial grain facilities in 25 Corn Belt states and the province of Ontario from 1969 to 1995. Most of the accidents occurred while the victims were unloading bulk materials and clearing blockages to the free flow of the materials. While the fatality number is relatively low compared to other types of accidents in the grain industry, farm managers need to strictly implement safety practices and procedures related to bulk grain handling.

A cross validation of safety climate scale using confirmatory factor analytic approach
Article Abstract:
Industries and researchers since 1980`s are working towards role of organizational and cultural factors and the studies revealed that organizational and cultural factors are still underlying casual factors of accidents. The study used a purposive sample of 722 U.S. workers throughout the nation who worked for grain elevator facilities of a multi-national grain company based in Illinois. The safety climate scale developed through the generation of an item pool based on a table of specifications, reviews from experts among others.

Toward a systematic approach to safety in the commercial fishing industry
Article Abstract:
A study of the injury risk involved in commercial fishing industry by National Research Council revealed the necessity for a safety program to be adopted by the US Coast Guard to minimize injury rates in the industry. The study identified the type of fishing equipment used and location as major causes for the injuries, and suggested that these factors should be considered in developing an occupational standard.
